The admission process for UK universities and colleges is done by UCAS


Step 1: Choose your course from the various courses available at universities in the UK.

Step 2: Check your eligibility for the course you are applying for.

Step 3: To take admission in undergraduate courses in the UK, students need to apply through UCAS (University and College Admission Service). Apply through UCAS portal.

Step 4: To take admission in the UK, along with all the required documents, students also need a Letter of Recommendation (LOR).

Step 5: Once applied through the UCAS portal, students will have to submit all the documents on the online portal.

Step 6: As per the requirements of the course, students are required to take an entrance test or interview, if any, depending on the course they are applying for.

Step 7: If selected, the university will provide the admission letter/invitation letter to the students, and then students can pay the first-year fee to proceed with the visa.

To study in the UK, students are required to sit and pass certain entrance exams. These exams are not all compulsory but some of them are compulsory and some are compulsory as per the requirements of the course:

  • TOEFL – Test of English as Foreign Language
  • IELTS -International English Language Test System
  • PTE – Pearson Test of English
  • GMAT – Graduate Management Admission Test
  • SAT– Scholarship Aptitude test
  • GRE – Graduate Record Examination
  • To study in the UK, Indian students are required to have a student visa. This visa allows them to study in the UK and stay in the UK for the duration of the course they have applied for.

Students need to keep in mind that the visa process may take 15 to 45 days to complete. So students need to start their admission process and visa process accordingly.

There are 2 types of student visas, a Tier 4 student visas, and a short-term student visas. Tier 4 student visa is for students who are 16 years of age or older and the duration of the course they are applying for is more than 11 months.

A short-term visa is for students who are applying for short courses. The duration of these short-term courses does not exceed 11 months.

Process
To begin the student visa process, students must first select their visas.

  • Choose your visa as per the duration of your course and apply for it.
  • Book an appointment with the embassy.
  • Submit your documents.
  • Interview for a visa.
  • Wait for the response.

Note: Students need to note that you need to provide a medical certificate stating that they do not have Tuberculosis (TB). Anyone with TB cannot enter the UK.

Student Visa Cost
There is an application fee for a student visa that varies with the type of visa you are applying for:

  • For a Tier 4 student visa, it is around Rs. 29,000. This is subject to change according to the currency rate. But this is a rough idea of the application fee.
  • There are two different fees for different time periods for a short-term student visa.
  • If a student is choosing to live and study in the UK for 6 months then the application fee will be around Rs. 8000.
  • For a stay of 11 months, the short-term student visa application fee will be around Rs. 16,000.
