The Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) is one of 18 faculties at University Gadjah Mada. March 5th, 1946 was designated as the official occasion for remembering the founding of the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing UGM prior to the University’s formation. The UGM Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing launched its first undergraduate degree in medicine.

Students are admitted through a variety of national and university admission exams, as well as selection into an international undergraduate program. Admissions are quite competitive. On average, one applicant must compete with 300 other applicants for national and university admissions. This program accepts approximately 300 undergraduate students each year.

This program has long developed and is well-known for its innovative medical education. In the academic year 1992/1993, the Faculty began implementing a Problem Based Learning (PBL) system. In 2003, the curriculum was divided into 21 learning blocks. Ten years later (from 2013), the curriculum has been adjusted to the National Standard of Competence for Medical Doctors (Standar Kompetensi Dokter Indonesia-SKDI) version 2012, with a 3.5-year bachelor phase and a two-year clinical rotation phase.
