In 1958, Guilin Medical University changed its name to Guilin Medical School. The State Board of Education agreed with Guilin Medical University’s move to a school for clinical students in 1987. In 1993, Guilin Medical University was given permission to train understudies from outside China. In 2006, it was given permission to oversee graduate projects. In 2012, the Ministry of Education of China said that Guilin Medical University was a “impressive university.”
