The Prime Minister Janonetri Sheikh Hasina, daughter of the nation’s father and protector of democracy, served as the motivation for the establishment of the Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College in the 1999–2000 academic year. The Hon’ble Health Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was Sheikh Fazlul Karim Salim, MP. The principal of the Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College was Dr. Md. Maniruzzaman Bhuiyan, while Sheikh Kabir Hossain served as the chairman of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society. As a project of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital is overseen by a Governing Body made up of officials from the government of Bangladesh, the University of Dhaka, and the sponsoring organization.

The College follows the MBBS course curriculum of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council and Dhaka University.The University of Dhaka administers professional tests and grants MBBS degree certificates, while the Government of Bangladesh controls the requirements for students to be admitted. 50 pupils were enrolled at the start of the 1999–2000 school year. There are 140 new students admitted each academic session out of our present total of about 978 students, with a maximum of 50% being international students.

Thirteen of the student batches have already qualified as doctors, fourteen have finished their internships, and the fifteenth batch is currently completing their internships at Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital (HFRCMCH), a tertiary care facility with 720 beds that was established in 1953 and offers clinical services in all medical specialties.
