Islamic Bank Bangladesh founded this college in Rajshahi. The political group Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh has ties to the Islamic Bank. There is a hospital connected to the college as well. When 50 students were admitted for the 2003–04 academic year, Islami Bank Medical College Hospital officially started its academic endeavors. The IBMC Academic Council and Governing Body issue and authorize the Government Order, which bases admissions on merit. The purpose of Islami Bank Medical College Hospital is to provide five academic years of specialized instruction to highly qualified medical candidates, who are called “Medical students.” The curriculum for the MBBS and BDS degrees, as set down by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC), will be followed when they study medicine. 

The BMDC will accept the University of Dhaka degree upon registering.
