The Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University, which used to be called the St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University, is a medical school in Russia that teaches pediatric medicine. This is the name of the university in St. Petersburg that is authorized to teach English. The oldest and most well-known university for teaching pediatric medicine is St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University, which is now called Leningrad Pediatric Medical Institute.

It was started in 1925 with the goal of preventing illness and death in mothers and babies. The City’s Children Hospital opened in 1905 with the goal of stopping the spread of contagious diseases. It has 650 beds and a staff of 28 Ephesians, paramedics, 238 nurses, and other staff. The City’s Children Hospital was turned into the main building of the St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University.

After the war, the hospital became home to many children who had lost their parents. During the war, the hospital was forgotten. Because of this, the government gave more money, and in 1925, the Scientific-Practical Institute of Maternity and Infant Protection, which was named for Clara Zetkin, opened. At that point, the institute’s building was fixed up and many more facilities and departments were added.

Why choose Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University for MBBS

The institute changed its name to the Scientific Research Institute of Maternity and Infant Protection in 1932 and has stayed that way ever since. The institute got some new departments. Psychology of Women and Children, Pathology of Children, Child Psychiatry, Hygiene and Nutrition Science, and Social Hygiene of Women and Children.

It was changed into the Clinical Medical School, a higher medical education institution, in 1932. When the institute first started out, it was hard to get pediatric specialists, so the child mortality rate stayed high. Then, the government built more clinical and preventive facilities and set up health care in orphanages and mental health facilities. At the start of World War II, the institute trained 530 doctors and made the training of another 300 better. In the institute, there were departments for obstetrics, gynecology, infectious diseases, neurological disorders, tuberculosis, and sexual health.

A lot of care was taken to keep infectious diseases from spreading. In 1940, there were 1215 beds in the hospital. In 1992, the institution was given the title of academy by the Ministry of Healthcare and later changed its name to the Saint-Petersburg Pediatric Medical Institute. There was a change in 2012 that made the Saint Petersburg Pediatric Medical University a university.

The University has 70 departments right now. There are more than 700 people who want to join the university every year. More than 250,000 doctors graduated from Saint-Petersburg Pediatric Medical University by 2000, and 2,000 of them were from outside of Russia.
